Many of you know already that I'm currently traveling in Japan for two
months doing workaway, couchsurfing and meeting friends. Of course,
I'll keep posting things that I'm learning about it's culture, new
recipes I'm descovering, tips for cheap traveling, and more.
To start, I'll start from the start of the trip -yes I sayed three
times-, which is the flight.
As Japan is so far away from Catalunya, many people thinks it's very
expensive to get there, but you can find really cheap flights there
-if you have in account how far is it-. I normally check them on
e-Dreams or Rumbo, and if you book them with many months in advance
you can find a ticket to go and return for just 420 euros.
I traveled with Japan Airlines, and had to do an scale in Paris for 5
hours. It didn't seemed too long to me because I came prepared with
books, music, notebooks and computer on my cabine bag, which I highly
recommend you to do too. From Paris to Tokyo, the flight took 12
hours, but this long-flight planes come prepared with lots of tv
shows, movies, anime, books, music, games, news....plus you can try to
sleep -I personally can't, guess it's because my head is too heavy and
it keeps falling and falling everytime I fall asleep-.
I normally hate the food on the planes, but I have to say that the one
there, having in account that is stillpre-made airplane food, was
quite good. For dinner we could choose between a honey mustard chicken
with oven potatoes or some asian pork with rice -of course you can ask
for a vegetarian/vegan option with advance-. Apart from that, we had
also many small portons of salad, ham, cheese, asian vegetables,
bread...For dessert a cup with fruits, a bark of chocolate and Ice
Cream -Hagen Datz-. I didn't like the breakfast that much and didn't
try most of the thinks, but at least it looked abundant: scrambled
eggs with sausage and potatoes -american style-, a packed croissant,
some strawberry yogurt and fruit macedonia.
Another thing that made my trip easier was that either in Charles de
Gaulle -Paris- or in Tokyo Narita there was free wifi, so to get
distracted or get in touch with those who're worring about you that's
I'll tell you about everything since I arrived to Narita on the next post ;)
